400;\">Comparing various samples of Australian Leptospermum with controls (including of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leptospermum scoparium<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from New Zealand) indicating that there was a huge range in anti bacterial activity within the Australian samples, including samples with significantly higher levels of activity than the New Zealand samples.\u00a0 This included samples of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leptospermum polygalifolium, Leptospermum liversidgei<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or mixed <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leptospermum<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> drawn from the Northern Rivers area of northern New South Wales. \u00a0 These varieties are endemic to Australia only.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This paper also builds on the work done in 2006-7 collecting samples of Australian <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leptospermum<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> honey samples and repeat testing them to find that the NPA is stable for at least 7 years under storage at 4 degrees C in the dark. \u00a0 Furthermore, the majority of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leptospermum polygalifolium<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> samples had increased NPA relative to those found 7 years before, possibly due to the conversion of active element DHA to MGO in that therapeutic benefits as an antimicrobial.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interestingly, where for most other honeys non peroxide antibacterial activity decreased over time, for these particular <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leptospermum<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> varieties and samples, the activity increased over
